B.C. Shirke bags CIDCO mass housing project PROJECTS TODAY B.C. Shirke has been appointed contractor for the City & Industrial Development Corporation of Maharashtra's mass housing projects at Sector 16, Kharghar, Navi Mumbai. The contract will be executed in three packages: Design and construction of 1,136 KH-1 and KH-2 type tenements, 532 KR- IV type tenements (Rs 51.91 crore), and 476 KR-Ill type tenements (Rs 35.51 crore). Preliminary survey on land is under way and the project is scheduled for completion by January 2010. The bids for all four housing schemes were invited last year. Sewage treatment plant: Cidco has appointed Ramky Infrastructure as contractor for its 85-mld sewage treatment plant at Sector 32, Kamothe, in Raigarh district of the state. The scope of the work of the contract include O&M for five years to treat the predominantly domestic raw sewage including facilities for sludge dewatering etc. on contractor's own design with cyclic activated sludge/SBR technology. Prequalification bids for the project were invited in April last year, and around six entities were shortlisted in July.

Shipyard on west coast mooted The Kerala government has submitted a proposal to the Centre proposing Poovar in Thiruvananthapuram district as a possible location for setting up an international size shipyard on the west coast. This information was tabled in Parliament recently. The proposed site has a waterfront area of 2.5 km in length and about 800-1,000 acres can be made available of which a part will be by land acquisition and rest by reclamation. Water depth of 13 metre is available within 500 metres of the shoreline.
