Topworth Steels’ Raigarh project to begin next year

MUMBAI-BASED Topworth Steels Pvt. Ltd, manufacturer of direct reduced iron and sponge iron products, is likely to commence work on its 600-mw thermal-based power unit in Raigarh, Chhattisgarh, by January
2009 and complete it by March 2010. The project is being implemented on IPP basis on 1,000 acres of land, which has been acquired. Environment and water supply clearances have been received.
The company is also setting up a 1-million tpa steel unit in Durg, Chhattisgarh, work on which is expected to begin work by November. The project will include a 135-mw coal-based power unit, part of which will be used for captive purpose and the remaining supplied to Chhattisgarh State Electricity Board.
