As per the latest release from the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation, around 445 infrastructure projects, each entailing investment of Rs 150 crore or more, have reported cost overruns of more than Rs 4.4 trillion. Further, around 557 projects are going to miss their completion dates.
The above projects are part of the 1,673 large projects (Rs 150 crore or more) being closely monitored by the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation, Government of India.
As against the original cost of Rs 22,23,791.78 crore these 1,673 projects are now expected to cost around Rs 26,64,649.18 crore according to the latest report of the ministry.
