Adani Group is planning to develop 10 GW of integrated solar manufacturing capacity by 2027, as it seeks to enhance its energy transition business. Recently, Adani raised USD 394 million for solar manufacturing from Barclays and Deutsche Bank through a trade finance facility.
So far, the Group has developed a large solar PV capacity for cells and modules at the Mundra SEZ in Gujarat. Now, Adani Solar is building the first fully integrated and comprehensive solar manufacturing ecosystem at Mundra, which would be the Group's large-scale facility, till date. This would also generate over 13,000 employment opportunities.
The new facility will play host to the entire ecosystem from metallurgical grade Silicon to PV modules, including ancillaries and supporting utilities as all are geographically co-located. Currently, Adani Group has a capacity of four GW in solar.
The government has adopted a two-pronged strategy with trade and non-trade barriers, such as an approved list of module manufacturers (ALMM) and a production-linked incentive (PLI) scheme, to encourage solar manufacturers to scale up investments in this sector.
