Phase-I of the Ahmedabad Metro project, the lines from APMC to Motera Stadium and Thaltej to Vastral, will be completed by August 2022.

As per the Gujarat Metro Rail Corporation (GMRC), Ahmedabad will have only 6.5 km of Metro line functional from Vastral to Apparel Park. A total of 40 km will be complete by August 2022.

The tunnelling work for the underground section between Apparel Park and Shahpur has been completed and laying of tracks and the signalling system is underway. Construction of 27 km elevated corridor is at an advanced stage.

GMRC has in Phase-II decided to drop direct connectivity to the airport that was planned earlier.

The 28 km Phase-II, work which kicked off on 18 January 2021, connecting the state capital and Ahmedabad city, will be completed by 2024.

The length of Corridor-1 of Phase-II is 22.8 km from Motera Stadium to Mahatma Mandir. Corridor-1 of Phase-II is a completely elevated corridor with 20 elevated Metro stations with interchanges at Koteshwar Road. It will have future provisions to connect the Metro with Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport.

The corridor will connect Koba, Infocity, the New and Old Sachivalayas, Akshardham and Mahatma Mandir.

The length of Corridor-2 is 5.4 km from GNLU to GIFT City, with two elevated stations, with an interchange facility at GNLU and a bridge over Sabarmati river.

Along this stretch no land will have to be acquired as the project has been designed in a way that it passes over government land.
