The much-anticipated Blue Line of Bengaluru’s Namma Metro, officially the ORR–Airport Line, is set for completion by December 2027, according to the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation (BMRCL).
The 58.19-km uninterrupted corridor will connect Silk Board Junction in the south to Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) in the north via K.R. Pura. Of the total stretch, 19.75 km falls under Phase 2A (Silk Board–K.R. Pura), while 38.44 km forms Phase 2B (K.R. Pura–KIA). As of June 30, 2025, overall progress stood at 52.5%. A BMRCL official stated, "The two metro stations within the airport premises are advancing well," with Bangalore International Airport (BIAL) designing them.
The Airport City station will be at ground level, while the Airport Terminal station will be semi-underground. The line will feature driverless trains with luggage racks and enhanced safety for air travellers. The project, with an estimated cost of Rs 14,788 crore, began nearly a decade ago. Once operational, the Blue Line will improve connectivity across Bengaluru, linking southern, eastern, and northern neighbourhoods directly to the airport.
