Bharat Heavy Electricals (BHEL) has bagged a contract from NTPC to set up a 2x800 MW supercritical thermal power project Stage-II at Lara in Chhattisgarh. The project is worth Rs 15,529.99 crore.
The scope of work includes design, engineering, manufacture, supply, testing and commissioning. It also includes civil and structural works for the package with a steam generator capable of biomass co-firing, steam turbine, emission control systems, balance of plant (BoP) packages and others.
BHEL is expected to complete the work on Unit-1 within 48 months from the commencement date and Unit-2 in 52 months.
The contract will be executed on an engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) basis.
