The Delhi Jal Board (DJB) has signed an agreement with IIT-Kanpur to develop an AI-based urban water management model for the capital.
The collaboration, announced on 14 November, 2025, will focus on addressing urban challenges like reducing non-revenue water, predictive maintenance of infrastructure, and real-time monitoring of water treatment plants (WTPs) and sewage treatment plants (STPs). The partnership with IITKanpur’s Airawat Research Foundation (ARF) aims to integrate AI technologies for more efficient water and waste water management.
Additionally, the project will support Delhi's Clean Yamuna mission, focusing on monitoring wastewater discharge and pollution. The collaboration will also assist in groundwater monitoring using AI-enabled tools, integrating borewell and satellite data for sustainable aquifer management.
