Gail (India) has stated that in the next couple
of months it would be in a position to secure liquefied natural gas to restart
the 2,184 MW Dabhol power project in Maharashtra.
Gail is understood to be in talks with suppliers
in Australia, Malaysia, Oman, Qatar and Abu Dhabi to enter into long term
(around 20 years) contracts for LNG supplies. The gas utility major is confident
of honouring the targeted date of September 2006 to restart the beleaguered
power plant.
