The Union government has reportedly sought the
involvement of Petronet LNG to secure gas supplies towards reviving the 2,184 MW
Dabhol power project in Maharashtra.
Gail (India) that was entrusted the mandate for
arranging gas supplies has so far been unsuccessful in firming up any deal.
Petronet LNG would negotiate with Qatar, from whom it is already LNG for its 5
million tpa Dahej terminal. Oman and Abu Dhabi are also being viewed as
prospective sources.
