The Ministry of Environment Forest and Climate Change (MoEF&CC) has accorded environmental clearance (EC) to expansion of educational institution, IIT Ropar. The campus is located at Bara Phool and Nunowal village in Rupnagar district of Punjab.
The total plot area is 19,47,913.87 sq mtr and total construction (built-up) area is 1,71,848.71 sq mtr. The cost of the project is Rs 575 crore.
The expansion includes construction of type 5 and type 6 residential zone, new library and lecture hall, workshop, central research facility block, boys’ and girls’ hostel, among others. The maximum height of the building is 14 mtr.
The total power requirement during construction phase is 280 kW and will be met from the Punjab State Power Corporation. Parking facility for 2,370 ECS is proposed to be provided.
The project will create employment for 800-850 people.
