The Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEF&CC) has accorded environmental and CRZ clearance to Konkan LNG (KLPL) for construction of balance work of Breakwater for LNG Terminal at Dabhol in Ratnagiri district of Maharashtra.

The existing LNG Terminal is already in operation which includes facilities such as  approach channel – 1,750 mtr long approach trestle, jetty head with berthing and mooring dolphins, navigational dolphins, tug berths, LNG unloading arms, LNG unloading lines, vapor return line, three LNG storage tanks of 160,000 cu mtr capacity each, boil off gas compressors, re-condenser, vaporisers, low pressure and high pressure pumps, low pressure and high pressure gas export systems, gas metering arrangements, utilities and other associated infrastructure.

The Breakwater construction is partially completed. The dimension of the original Breakwater to be constructed is 2,300 mtr length, height of 21 mtr at the centre and width of 80 mtr at the bottom and with eight mtr width at the top surface.

The existing facility is already in operation hence no additional waste water effluent will be generated. Also, no additional solid waste will be generated from the proposed completion of balance works of breakwater.

The estimated cost of the project is Rs 610 crore. It will create employment for 100 people during construction phase of the Breakwater. However, since the proposed LNG Terminal is already in operation, no additional manpower will be required during operation phase.
