The Essar Group, it is
reported, has planned to set up a Rs.15,000 crore greenfield steel plant at
Kakinada in Andhra Pradesh. This is one of the several projects lined up in the
state, according to Chief Minister, Dr YS Rajasekhara Reddy.
The Rs 8,500 crore
expansion plan of Visakhapatnam Steel Plant of Rashtriya Ispat Nigam is also
expected to get the Union Cabinet approval by end-May 2005.
Meanwhile, the Jindal
Vijaynagar Steel and public sector National Aluminum Co have reportedly planned
to join hands with Andhra Pradesh Mineral Development Corporation to set up an
alumina refinery in the state.
Regarding the VW car
project, the CM stated that a high-level delegation from the German automobile
giant was likely to arrive in Hyderabad on 22 May 2005 to finalize the project.
