Essar Power has received environmental clearance from the Ministry of Environment & Forests (MoEF) for its pithead-based coal power unit at Tori in Latehar district of Jharkhand.
Approval has been accorded for Unit-II of Phase-I and Phase-II of the coal-based power project at Tori.
The company is developing a pithead-based coal power unit at Tori in two phases. Phase-I of the project comprises two units of 600 MW capacity and Phase-II of the project will have 600 MW capacity.
Phase-I, estimated to cost Rs 5,700 crore, is spread over 1,000 acre. Coal for the project will be supplied from captive coal blocks at Chakla and Ashok Karkata.
