Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot laid foundation stone for two SEZs at
Mahindra World City in Jaipur on 28 February 2009.
The Light Engineering and Handicraft SEZs, each spread over 250 acre, are
coming up as part of the 3,000 acre multi-product Mahindra World City. The SEZ
is a 74:26 JV between Mahindra Lifespace Developers and Rajasthan State
Industrial Development and Industrial Corporation (RIICO). The SEZ projects are
estimated to cost Rs.10,000 crore.
The SEZ offers infrastructure such as seamless power supply, wide road
network, water supply, serene landscaping, proposed logistics and warehousing
zones, professional operations and maintenance. The handicraft zone is being
developed as preferred destination with latest facilities to give impetus to
exports. Apart form this; the SEZ will also have a domestic tariff area for
catering to the demand of domestic industries.
