The Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation (GCMMF) which markets dairy products under the brand name Amul is planning to make an investment of Rs 2,500 crore in Uttar Pradesh.
The organised milk sector can create six lakh job opportunities in coming years if production capacity is increased from two million lpd to 10 million lpd and productivity can be increased through better breeding facilities,
The state is already working on a breeding improvement programme.
The company will infuse around Rs 1,000 crore over the next two years to set up milk processing plants, and another Rs 500 crore on facilities for new products like edible oil.
The company expects 12 to 15 percent growth in revenue in FY21 from Rs 38,550 crore during FY20 despite COVID-19 pandemic, as demand for branded food products has increased.
The company will invest around Rs 1,000 crore in the next two years on setting up dairy plants across various states.
