The Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) will connect a 1,600mm pipeline from Basai to Sector 51 boosting station this week, doubling its water supply capacity.
The new pipeline aims to alleviate the city's water supply issues, reducing reliance on the existing 1,000 mm pipeline from Chandu Budhera water treatment plant. Currently, around 100-120 million liters per day (MLD) of treated water reaches Sector 51, but the demand is 150-170 MLD. The integration of the new pipeline will increase the boosting station's capacity to 300 MLD, enabling better water flow management. This project is expected to minimise shortages, especially during peak consumption.
"We expect the new line will significantly improve water distribution and meet the growing demand in the area," said a GMDA official
