The first phase of auctioning of the iron ore mining blocks in Goa has been completed with the four blocks getting assigned to the successful bidders. Among these are Vedanta, Salgaocar Shipping Company, Rajaram Bandekar and Sociedade De Fomento Industries.
Vedanta emerged as the winner for Bicholim-Mulgao mining block in North Goa which has availability of more than 84 million tonne of iron ore reserve. Salgaocar Shipping Company won the bid for Shirigao-Mayem mineral Block in North Goa with more than 24 million tonne of ore reserve
Rajaram Bandekar successfully bid for Monte-de-Sirigao mining block in North Goa to carry out extraction of 10 million tonne of ore available.
The fourth Block comprising Kalay Mines in South Goa which offers 16.731 million tonne of iron ore over an exploratory area of 75 hectare was won by Sociedade De Fomento Industries.
