Godavari Biorefineries (GBL) has launched a pioneering pilot project that aims to convert industrial CO2 emissions into dimethyl ether (DME), a clean fuel and chemical feedstock.
In partnership with the Institute of Chemical Technology (ICT) Mumbai, this groundbreaking initiative addresses climate change by transforming greenhouse gases into a sustainable energy carrier. DME, a low-emission fuel, can replace traditional energy sources like LPG and diesel, contributing to decarbonisation and reduced emissions. Apart from being a fuel, DME is a versatile chemical feedstock used in various industrial processes.
Samir Somaiya, Chairman and Managing Director of GBL, emphasised the importance of sustainable living to safeguard the planet for future generations. This project represents a significant step in the global effort to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and utilise waste materials for valuable energy solutions.
