The Central government has approved the establishment of India’s first Apex Research Institute for Yoga and Naturopathy in Andhra Pradesh, with a substantial investment of Rs 750 crore.
Health Minister Y Satya Kumar Yadav shared that the institute, modelled on AIIMS, will be managed by the Ministry of AYUSH under the Central Council for Research in Yoga and Naturopathy. Spanning 40 acres, the institute will include a 450-bed naturopathy hospital and academic facilities offering undergraduate and postgraduate programs. A dedicated research and training centre will also be established. Additionally, a Central Research Institute will be developed in Guntur district with a Rs 100 crore budget.
The state is also advancing the construction of a Naturopathy Medical College in Visakhapatnam, with a 100-seat intake expected by 2026-27. These initiatives are part of a broader Rs 165.65 crore allocation from the Ministry of AYUSH for AYUSH development in the state.
