KLE Academy of Higher Education and Research (KAHER) will set up an incubation and innovation centre in Belagavi, Karnataka for healthcare technology research and development. The inauguration is likely to be held in January, 2024.
KAHER Incubation and Innovation centre (KIIC) will facilitate the technology transfer from the academic sphere to enable commercialisation by startups. This is intended to create cost-effective products and services, which would reduce import dependency and foster entrepreneurship within the country.
KIIC is in active discussions with leading incubators, such as IIT-Kanpur (SIIC) to partner for knowledge sharing, commercialisation of existing patents & technologies, and startup and academia cross-pollination at the ecosystem level. KIIC is expected to generate employment opportunities as these ventures would expand and contribute to job creation in the region.
KIIC would provide a nurturing environment and platform for startups and innovators to develop pathbreaking technologies, while addressing healthcare challenges. This synergy would enable innovative solutions which address real-world healthcare challenges. Besides, startups have the potential to attract investment.
Apart from catering to the captive demand within the country, KIIC aims to contribute significantly to the growth of the healthcare and medical technology sectors in line with India's aspirations to be a global supply chain hub.
