Maharashtra cabinet has approved the water supply project 'Jalswarajya Phase-II' (Rural Water Supply and Sanitation project) for supply of water in the rural areas.
The project, estimated to cost Rs 1,444 crore, will be implemented in cooperation with World Bank, which will bear 70 per cent of the project cost.
Phase-I of the Rural Water Supply & Sanitation project has been completed by the water supply & sanitation department, government of Maharashtra, in December 2011, with an investment of Rs 1,235.56 crore. The project has been implemented with World Bank Assistance in 26 districts of Maharashtra.
