Mahindra EPC is planning to set up two solar power plants in Tamil Nadu.
The company intends to develop plants with a cumulative 200 MW capacity across two locations; one is near Madurai and the other in Tiruchi. The project will entail an investment of Rs 1,400 crore. When commissioned, the company will own a third of the 200 MW capacity, while the rest will be sold to those who wish to own solar assets.
The company had commissioned two solar plants for a consortium of automotive component manufacturers in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. These include a 2.12 MW plant for MM Forgings and a 1.06 MW plant for Super Auto Forge located in Aruppukottai near Madurai. In addition, the consortium consists of IM Gears, Rane Group and Autotech Industries (India).
Apart from Mahindra EPC, a consortium of automotive component manufacturers in Chennai is planning to set up around 50 MW solar power capacity in Tamil Nadu with an investment of Rs 300 crore over the next two-three years. The power produced from the plant will be used for captive purposes.
