Mahindra & Mahindra has entered into an agreement to procure 150 MW of renewable energy from the Gelos’ hybrid project in Maharashtra.
This project, consisting of 100.8 MW of wind and 50 MW of solar capacity, aims to meet Mahindra's sustainability targets and reduce its carbon footprint. The energy will be sourced from Gelos’ hybrid power plant, which integrates advanced renewable technologies to enhance efficiency. “We are excited to strengthen our clean energy portfolio with this hybrid project, aligning with our commitment to sustainable growth,” said a Mahindra spokesperson.
The deal includes Mahindra purchasing a 26 percent stake in Gelos Solren, a subsidiary of Mahindra Susten, for Rs 371.43 million, and the transaction is expected to conclude by 30 April, 2026, with Mahindra Susten maintaining a 74 percent stake. The Rs 12 billion hybrid project is being developed in partnership with Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan Board and will utilise 80 percent local components. Mahindra Susten has a strong track record, having developed over 1.5 GW of renewable energy assets and 4.2 GW in construction projects globally.
