The Central government is planning to
develop a Mega Food Park at an undecided location in Punjab with an investment
of Rs.440 crore.
The project to come up on 100 acres of
land will be developed by private sector players. An MoU
has already been signed with a consortium of Italian food processors for
technology transfer. The agro-park will process food based on European Union
standards
The Punjab government and the Union
Food Processing Ministry is preparing a joint study report about the park, which
will be submitted to the Italian consortium, it is learnt.
