Chinese electrical appliance manufacturer, Midea Group plans to invest Rs 800 crore to establish a manufacturing facility in India.
The company will acquire 43 acre of land in Supa Parner Industrial Park II near Pune, Maharashtra, to set up a greenfield manufacturing facility for consumer home appliances and components.
The facility will manufacture five lakh refrigerators, six lakh washing machines and ten lakh water appliances. An exclusive manufacturing facility to manufacture compressors and motors for appliances will also be set up.
The manufactured products will cater to the company’s operations in India and abroad. The facility will also have a dedicated R&D centre which will design, develop and test products for the Indian market.
The new manufacturing facility is expected to start commercial operations by 2018 end.
The project will create employment opportunities for over 500 people in five years.
