NTPC intends to set up a super thermal power plant at Bundelkhand in Chhatarpur district of Madhya Pradesh.
The company will soon lay the foundation stone for the project. The power plant, with 2,640 MW capacity, will entail an investment of Rs 17,000 crore. It will be executed in four units and each unit will have 660 MW capacity. Half of the total electricity generated from the plant will be supplied to the state government. The project will be commissioned in the 13th Plan (2017-22).
Currently, the company meets about 24 per cent of the state's total electricity requirement.
With the 2,640 MW power project in Bundelkhand, NTPC will have over 4,500 MW of capacity under construction in Madhya Pradesh.
