Neyveli Uttar Pradesh Power (NUPPL), a joint venture (JV) between Neyveli Lignite Corporation and Uttar Pradesh Rajya Vidyut Utpadan Nigam, is setting up Kanpur thermal plant "Ghatampur Power Project" worth Rs 17,237 crore.
On January 16, 2023, the Ghatampur thermal plant in Kanpur, which is still under construction, was inspected by the Lucknow secretary and representatives from the energy department.
By Q2/FY24, the 1,980 MW facility's first unit is anticipated to be operational for power production. The two remaining units with the same capacity will be powered up by the end-2023.
The three units in the proposed plant will have a capacity of 660 MW each.
