The government of Odisha has planned two coastal road projects of 415 km length with a investment of Rs 7,500 crore.
For the development of these projects, Rs 6,000 crore have been earmarked for construction, while a sum of Rs 1,500 crore is kept for land acquisition.
National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has already finalised the alignment of these projects in 2017.
A detailed project report (DPR) is being prepared for the 252 km long Gopalpur-Ratanpur stretch via Chatrapur-Satapada-Konark-Astrang-Naugaon-Paradip-Ratanpur.
Another project is also in the DPR preparation stage which involves over 162 km long Ratanpur-Digha stretch via Basudevpur-Chandipur-Chandaneswar.
Both the above projects are to be taken up under Bharatmala Pariyojana. Approval from Odisha government is awaited for both the projects.
