1. Boolean Searches :

i. AND - Shows results where both terms on either side of the 'AND' operator are present. 'AND' must be in upper case. For example search term - delhi AND metro result - It will return records in which 'delhi' as well as 'metro' both are present.

ii. OR - Shows results where either term (or both terms) is present. 'OR' must be in upper case. For example search term - delhi OR metro result - It will return records in which either 'delhi' or 'metro' or both are present

2. Proximity Searches

A proximity search looks for terms that are within a specific distance from one another. For example, search term - 'delhi metro'~10 result - It will search for records where 'delhi' and 'metro' are found within 10 words of each other

3. Phrase searches

You can search phrases using double quotes. for e.g. 'delhi metro' result - It will return records where 'delhi metro' phrase is found.

PM launches three new Metro lines in Mumbai

Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched three Metro lines in Mumbai, Maharashtra, on 7 September 2019. The cumulative cost of the projects is Rs 19,000 crore.

 

The PM also laid the foundation stone for Metro Bhavan which will help in creating systems to address concerns of mobility, connectivity, productivity, safety and sustainability in cities.

The three new Metro projects are -- Rs 4,476 crore, 9.2 km Gaimukh-Shivaji Chowk (Mira Road) Metro-10; Rs 8,739-crore, 12.8 km Wadala-CST Metro-11; and Rs 5,865 crore, 20.7 km Kalyan-Taloja Metro-12 corridor.

The new lines are expected to be completed by 2026, when the megapolis will have 337 km Metro network across 14 lines covering the entire MMR area.

The 32-storey Metro Bhavan, to come up at Aarey Colony in the northern suburb Goregaon, will be the integrated operations and control centre of the Metro project. Significantly, Metro Bhawan is coming on 20,387 sq mtr forest land deep inside Aarey Colony, which is one of the two large green lungs of the nation's densest city, with a developable area of 1,14,088 sq mtr.

Nearly 400 km of Metro route became operational in the past five years and nearly 850 km are under various stages of construction. In the past five years alone, the Centre has approved almost 600 km Metro lines. By 2023-24, another 85 km Metro network will commence operations and the rest by 2025.

Currently, of the 14 Metro corridors, civil works on six are underway. These are: Dahisar-DN Nagar Metro-2A; DN Nagar-Mandale Metro-2B; Colaba-Bandra-Seepz Metro-3; Wadala-Kasarvadavli Metro-4 corridor; Swami Samarth Nagar-Vikhroli Metro-6; and Andheri (East) to Dahisar (East) Metro-7 corridor.
