1. Boolean Searches :

i. AND - Shows results where both terms on either side of the 'AND' operator are present. 'AND' must be in upper case. For example search term - delhi AND metro result - It will return records in which 'delhi' as well as 'metro' both are present.

ii. OR - Shows results where either term (or both terms) is present. 'OR' must be in upper case. For example search term - delhi OR metro result - It will return records in which either 'delhi' or 'metro' or both are present

2. Proximity Searches

A proximity search looks for terms that are within a specific distance from one another. For example, search term - 'delhi metro'~10 result - It will search for records where 'delhi' and 'metro' are found within 10 words of each other

3. Phrase searches

You can search phrases using double quotes. for e.g. 'delhi metro' result - It will return records where 'delhi metro' phrase is found.

Railway projects see cost overrun of Rs 2.21 lakh crore

The Indian Railways account for around three-fifths of 344 Central sector projects that are facing cost overrun due to delay in implementation due to various reasons.

The total cost overrun for 205 railway projects that are delayed is Rs 2.21 lakh crore.

The Statistics and Programme Implementation Ministry (MOSPI) monitors Central sector projects involving an expenditure of Rs 150 crore and above. The ministry monitored 367 projects of the Indian Railways in December 2018.

The total original cost of these 205 projects is Rs 1,68,116.34 crore till December 2018.

Of the projects monitored, 94 projects reported time overrun or delay of one month to 324 months.

The Power sector was in the second position to register overall cost overrun. Of the 95 projects in the Power sector, 40 registered a cost overrun of Rs 63,334.88 crore.

The total original cost of the 40 projects was Rs 1,72,830.59 crore, which escalated to around Rs 2,36,165.47 crore. Moreover, of the total projects, 56 reported time overrun of two months to 147 months.

The Road Transport and Highway sector reported third largest cost escalation, where out of 605 projects, 49 reported cost overrun.

The cost overrun of these 49 projects was Rs 15,000.56 crore. The original cost of these projects was Rs 29,654.32 crore which escalated to Rs 44,654.88 crore. A total of 112 projects reported delay of one month to 131 months.
