Ramco Cements, a cement manufacturing company, is expected to commission around Rs 2,000 crore of expansion projects during FY20.

The company is implementing capacity expansion projects worth Rs 3,500 crore across six sites, including a greenfield project, to raise the capacity to 20 million tonne by 2020.

Also, a few brownfield and greenfield expansions will be completed in FY20.

A cement grinding unit of one million tpa capacity is coming up at Haridaspur in Jajpur district in Odisha, at an investment of Rs 515 crore and will be commissioned in FY 20.

The company is also in the process of enhancing its clinkerisation capacity by an additional 1.5 million tpa and a waste heat recovery system (WHRS) of 27 MW at the Jayanthipuram plant in Andhra Pradesh. The project is worth Rs 740 crore and is also slated to be completed in FY20.

The capacity augmentation at grinding units of one million tpa capacity each at Visakhapatnam in Andhra Pradesh and Kolaghat in West Bengal are underway at a cost of Rs 250 crore and Rs 425 crore respectively.

These projects will take the aggregate capacity of satellite grinding units to 9.5 million tpa from the current 4.2 million tpa.

The strategic locations of the grinding units, proximity to fly ash/slag availability areas and major cement consumption areas will allow the company to economise its transportation costs and expand its markets in Odisha, Jharkhand and West Bengal.
