The construction of the RapidX rail corridor has picked up pace, with viaduct spans installed along the 25 km route between Duhai and Meerut (South) station. Currently, trial runs are being carried out on the fully elevated priority section, which is a 17-km corridor with stations in Sahibabad, Ghaziabad city, Guldhar, Duhai and Duhai depot.

As per the National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC) officials, work is going on smoothly. Also, parallel work to lay tracks is being carried out on this section, and electricity infrastructure is also being installed.

The slab casting of the mezzanine level of the Meerut station has been completed, and that of the concourse level and the platform level is in the final stages. Currently, slab casting of the concourse level of Modinagar South station, which precedes the Meerut South station, has been completed, while that of platform level is in the final stages.

NCRTC expects to commission RAPIDX trains in the priority section by next month. The complete corridor is expected to be completed by 2025.

The overall 82 km rapid rail network will allow commuters to take trains with speeds up to 160 kmph and reach Meerut from Delhi in 55 minutes.
