Sangam Bio Refinery is in the process of achieving financial closure for its new grain-based distillery unit with a capacity of 60 klpd at Alipurduar in Jalpaiguri district of West Bengal.

The proposed unit will extend over 8.25 acres of the land parcel and comprise a 1.5 MW rice husk and coal-based co-generation plant. In addition, the project will generate direct employment for 75 people and indirect jobs for 25 persons.

In March 2022, Sangam Bio Refinery received approval from the Expert Appraisal Committee (EAC). Similarly, the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEFCC) granted environmental clearance for the (EC) in March 2022.

According to the information available with Projects Today, Sangam Bio Refinery is likely to commence the work on the project in Q1/FY24.
