Tata Steel is planning capacity
expansion of its ferro chrome plant at Bamnipal in Orissa. A 60 MW captive power
is also part of the project. The ferro chrome plant will entail an
investment of Rs.100 crore and the power unit will cost around Rs.200-250 crore.
The company is in the process of
contracting and ordering for the project. Work on the project is scheduled for
completion within18 months.
Tata Steel is also setting up a ferro
chrome plant in South Africa for which the foundation stone is expected by May
2006.
