Torrent Power reported a capital expenditure of Rs 1,155 crore in the power transmission and distribution (T&D) business during the first half of FY26.
This included Rs.780 crore for distribution licensing, Rs 100 crore for franchised distribution, and Rs 275 crore for power transmission. Overall, Torrent Power's capital expenditure for H1FY26 reached Rs 3,700 crore, driven primarily by investments in renewable energy (RE) at Rs 2,500 crore. Despite a slight rise in power T&D losses across all licensed and franchised areas, power purchase grew by 1.7 percent in H1/FY26.
Torrent Power has already placed the main plant equipment (boiler & turbine-generator or BTG) order for its 1,600-MW ultra supercritical thermal power plant project in Madhya Pradesh, with an outlay of Rs 22,000 crore. Additionally, the company aims to commission its greenfield transmission project in Maharashtra by March 2026, which will help evacuate 1.5 GW of renewable energy
