1. Boolean Searches :

i. AND - Shows results where both terms on either side of the 'AND' operator are present. 'AND' must be in upper case. For example search term - delhi AND metro result - It will return records in which 'delhi' as well as 'metro' both are present.

ii. OR - Shows results where either term (or both terms) is present. 'OR' must be in upper case. For example search term - delhi OR metro result - It will return records in which either 'delhi' or 'metro' or both are present

2. Proximity Searches

A proximity search looks for terms that are within a specific distance from one another. For example, search term - 'delhi metro'~10 result - It will search for records where 'delhi' and 'metro' are found within 10 words of each other

3. Phrase searches

You can search phrases using double quotes. for e.g. 'delhi metro' result - It will return records where 'delhi metro' phrase is found.

Work underway on Thwake multi-purpose dam in Kenya

The construction work is progressing well on Thwake multi-purpose dam project in the eastern region of Kenya and will be completed in scheduled timeline.

The project’s construction works are over 37 percent complete. The China Gezhouba Group Corporation (CGGC) is contractor for the project.

The dam project is being implemented in four phases.

Phase-I, which is currently under execution, involves construction of an 80.5 mtr high multi-purpose dam with a storage capacity of 688 million cu mtr and associated preliminary works needed to enable undertaking of the other three phases.

Phase-II will involve construction of an electricity substation and a hydropower plant that is expected to generate 20 MW electricity.

Phase-III will involve development of a water supply system to treat and distribute up to 1,50,000 cu mtr of water per day to rural inhabitants of Kitui and Makueni counties as well as some parts of Machakos County.

Phase-IV of the project will involve development of irrigation works for up to 40,075 ha of land in Kitui and Makueni counties.

The project is funded jointly by the government of Kenya and the African Development Bank (AfDB).

Upon completion, the project is expected to benefit close to over 1.3 million rural inhabitants of the three counties.
