Construction work on the Palarivattom flyover and a four-lane IT corridor that will connect NH-47 and Infopark, is expected to begin before the end of FY14.
The Palarivattom flyover project is being developed by Roads & Bridges Development Corporation of Kerala with an investment of Rs 47.70 crore. The tender process for the project has already started. Meanwhile, the project report for the Rs 400 crore IT corridor has been submitted to the government.
Apart from this, for the Kochi city road improvement project, the Public Works Department, Kerala, is planning to appoint a consultancy agency in December 2013 for the preparation of a detailed project report for the development of eight roads in the city. Under the project, eight roads - Salim Rajan Road, Kaloor-Kadavanthra north and south extension, Edakochi-Old Thoppumpady Road, Kumaranasan Road, Karshaka Link Road, Edakochi Bund Road, Edappally Toll-Vallathol Junction Road, will be improved as two-lane roads.
Further, the construction of Edappally flyover has started. It is expected to be completed in 18 months. Infrastructure projects of Rs 472 crore will soon begin in the city.
