Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) plans to develop several new industrial parks in Sector 10 near Yamuna Expressway, covering 1,300 acres of land. The proposed parks include leather footwear, goods and accessories park, plastic processing park, handloom park and an electric vehicle park.
Each of these parks seeks to secure 100 acres of land for their development. These parks are in addition to the semiconductor and electronic manufacturing hubs, which were earlier announced to be developed on about 500 acres of land. The proposal for their development has been approved by the Authority’s Board.
The process of land acquisition for industrial parks in Sector 10 is underway. Nod has been given to the social impact assessment (SIA) of the villages from which land will be acquired. For the SIA process, the government had selected Gautam Buddha University.
The leather park would focus on manufacturing leather-related accessories, footwear and garments, while All India Plastic Industries Association proposed the plastic processing park. The handloom handicraft welfare association's proposal has been approved for the establishment of a Handicraft park.
The new sector will also house the EV manufacturing park for which YEIDA has received a proposal from the electric vehicles manufacturers welfare trust. The project is expected to attract an investment of Rs 15,000 crore.
For the semiconductor and electronics manufacturing park, several foreign companies, including those from Taiwan, have shown interest. An investment to the tune of Rs one lakh crore is expected to be made. As per the Authority's estimates, over 65,000 people would get job opportunities in the process.
