Airports Authority of India (AAI), has signed an MoU with Government of Chhattisgarh for setting up a second airport at Raigarh, Chhattisgarh.
The proposed airport project is likely to come up with an investment of Rs 280 crore. It will be developed in two phases under a time-bound programme of three years. In Phase-I, a 1,870m long and 45m wide runway will be constructed, and in Phase-II, a runway with a length of 2,000 mtr will be built. Under Phase-I, the runway will be utilised for aircraft having a capacity 138-179 seats.
Possession of 350 acre of land has been assigned by the state government. The estimated expenditure for development of this airport in Phase-I will be Rs 120 crore and in Phase-II, it will be Rs 160 crore.
