Eight companies have submitted technical bids for the 4,000 MW ultra mega power project at Cheyyur in Tamil Nadu.
The eight companies are NTPC, Jindal Steel & Power, Adani Power, GMR Energy, Sterlite Energy, JSW Energy, L&T, and CLP India. The project is estimated to cost Rs 25,000 crore. The project is likely to be awarded by the end of the current fiscal.
Power Finance Corporation (PFC), in September 2013, invited technical bids for the project.
Earlier this week, nine power developers submitted bids for the 4,000 MW ultra mega power project at Bhedabahal in Orissa. The companies bidding for the Orissa power project are Jindal Steel and Power, Tata Power, NTPC, Adani Power, JSW, Sterlite Inventure, CLP India, Larsen & Toubro and NHPC.
The bids placed for both the power projects will be scrutinised and those companies which meet the parameters will be asked to submit the request for proposal (RfPs) or the offer for tariff.
While the Orissa project will be based on domestic coal, the Tamil Nadu project will be fired from imported fuel.
