L&T Construction has bagged an order worth US $1,403 million (approx Rs 8,250 crore) from ArRiyadh Development Authority for development of a metro project in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
The scope of the order includes design, construction and commissioning of Line-3 to carry approximately 5,000 passengers per hour, per direction for the metro project. The contract also includes construction of bridges, tunnels, elevated and underground stations, depots, roads, systems for CCTV and public announcements, SCADA with allied systems, etc.
The proposed metro rail systems will be undertaken by Ansaldo STS, Italy; and rolling stock by Bombardier Transportation, UK. The entire infrastructure facilities, together with electromechanical and plumbing systems will be executed by the integrated joint venture comprising L&T; Impregilo, Italy; and Nesma, Saudi Arabia. The project is to be implemented within a contract period of four years.
