NMDC will be spending Rs 10,000 crore to set up slurry pipelines and pellet plants among other works. The investment is for its upcoming steel plant in Chhattisgarh.
The investment will be divided into two parts. One investment will be for setting up slurry pipelines and pellet plants for Nagarnar steel plant, and the other investment for slurry pipeline from Nagarnar to Visakhapatnam. Also, NMDC will set up a pellet plant in the port city. The cost of the projects in Chhattisgarh is estimated to be Rs 4,000 crore while the Vizag portion will require an investment of Rs 6,000 crore.
The slurry pipeline system from Nagarnar to Vizag, along with the pellet plant at Vizag, will be set up in a joint venture, where NMDC and RINL will be the prime partners. The selection of other partners is in progress.
NMDC is setting up a three million tpa steel plant at Nagarnar in Chhattisgarh with an investment of Rs 15,525 crore. It has created a wholly-owned subsidiary vesting iron and steel plant with the arm.
