On 12 February 2014, Prithviraj Chavan, Chief Minister of Maharashtra, inaugurated the Sahar elevated road in Mumbai.
The Sahar elevated corridor project, worth Rs 400 crore, was undertaken by the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA).
The 3.3 km Sahar elevated corridor links Western Express Highway (WEH) to Terminal-2 of Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport (CSIA).
Along with the Sahar elevated corridor, Terminal-2 of the Mumbai International Airport was also thrown open to the traffic.
Besides, Phase-I of the 11.7 km Versova-Andheri-Ghatkopar corridor (Mumbai Metro line-I) is expected to be opened to traffic by March 2014. Likewise, the Santacruz-Chembur Link road project will be opened to the public very shortly.
Apart from this, work on the Colaba-Bandra-Seepz metro rail project is expected to commence very soon.
Also, the Maharashtra government has sought Rs 12,500 crore from the 14th Finance Commission for development of infrastructure projects in Mumbai.
