The board of Kandla Port Trust formally approved
the ABG group's bid of 48.997 per cent revenue share for construction and
operation of the second container terminal at the port.
ABG had emerged as the highest bidder ousting the
bids of the other two contending consortia, those led by Afcons and Gammon
India.
ABG has tied up with Voltri Terminals, which runs
a box facility at Genoa at Italy to meet the minimum experience criteria. When
operational, the new container terminal would handle 5 lakh TEUs from Berth
Nos.11 and 12 of the port.
