The Union government hopes to award
bids for the modernisation and restructuring of Delhi and Mumbai airports by
October-November 2005, it is learnt.
According to Dy Chairman, Planning
Commission, Dr Montek Singh Ahluwalia, the transaction document for both the
airports should be ready by end-July 2005.
There were reportedly some differences
amongst different ministries about the transaction document, which have now been
resolved. The Union law ministry will complete vetting the documents by end-July
2005. The Government plans to award contracts for both the airports
simultaneously.
The government, which has received
bids from eight entities, including Reliance, L&T and GMR, plans to offer
the two airports to successful bidders for a period of 30 years that could be
extended by another 30 years.
The government had earlier planned to
award bids by August 2005.
