Delhi International Airport Ltd is
likely to award major contracts for the airport modernisation project by January
or February 2007, it is learnt.
The company -- a consortium led by GMR
Infrastructure -- has already submitted its detailed master plan to the Union
government. The airport will handle Airbus A-380, the world's largest passenger
aircraft, by March 2008. By that time, the airport will also be able to handle
35 million passenger annually. The ultimate targeted handling capacity is 90
million passengers per year.
