The Board of Approvals on SEZs on 10
October 2006 cleared 26 proposals including those of Emmar Hills Township,
Parsvnath Developers, and TCG Urban Infrastructure Holdings.
It also gave in-principle clearance to
eight proposals including those for Writers & Publishers' proposal for a
multi-product special economic zone in Chattisgarh and Rassai Properties &
Industries' proposal for a multi-product zone in Andhra Pradesh.
As many as 11 of the 26 proposals
cleared relate to Ranga Reddy district in Andhra Pradesh. These include two
proposals of Maytas Properties and one of Rudradev Infopark for information
technology zones. Lahari Infrastructure proposal for a services zone in the
district and the proposals that granted in-principle approvals included two of
Dr Reddy's Laboratories for pharma zones in Andhra Pradesh.
Among the other proposals cleared is
Shree Renuka Sugars' integrated
sugarcane processing complex with a sugar plant and distillery in Belgaum
district of Karnataka.
The BoA considered a total of 82
proposals for SEZs in Assam, Chhattisgarh, Karnataka, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh,
and Madhya Pradesh and the total number of formal approvals has now increased to
212 and that of in-principle approvals to 152.
