The Orissa government has given
provisional approval to Arcelor Mittal India to acquire 7,750 acres of land, for
setting up a 12 million tpa steel plant and a township in the state.
Of the total land acquired, around
6,000 acres will be used for setting up a steel plant, about 1,000 acres will be
for 1,500 MW power plant, while the remaining 750 acres will be used for
developing a township.
To fuel the power plant, the company
has got a coal mine on lease with a total reserve of 650 million tpa along with
four other entities.
