ACC plans to foray into production of other construction material such as 'eco-friendly' bricks and sand.
For this to materialise, the company plans to set up more than 20 plants to manufacture bricks from fly-ash by 2015.
To start with, ACC has set up four fly-ash brick plants in West Bengal, Chhattisgarh, and Jharkhand, which produce about 60,000 bricks per day, with one being set up in Coimbatore, all under the franchisee model.
On 14 February 2014, the company inaugurated its new plant to manufacture eco-friendly bricks under the brand name EcoBricks at Panagarh in Bardhaman, West Bengal. The project has started churning out 30,000 bricks per day.
Similarly, the company has introduced EcoSand -- an eco-friendly construction material to replace natural sand in the construction process in the southern region.
